Carburetor - Inspection - Part 2
Butterfly valve removal
Thes parts are not listed as replaceable (according to Yamaha) - Found new ones at http://www.motorcyclecarbs.com/
After some cajoling with a screw driver the choke tube began to move.
Eventually I managed to get a grip on it - it took about ten minutes form me to "convince" it to come out
Underneath all the choke tube and underneath the gunk are two jets that need to be removed.

Without the gunk you can clearly see the two jets. The choke tube is sticking out of the carb body on the right.
The choke tube and the two jets are not in great shape - none of these parts are officially available from Yamaha.
All the parts for a single carburetor
